With increased torque and enhanced dust and water protection the new Makita BTD146Z impact driver is certainly worth considering.

Impact drivers have much more torque than traditional screwdrivers thanks to the impacts that are delivered while the bit rotates much in the same ways as the air tools that remove the nuts from car wheels. The maximum torque on this unit is a huge 160Nm which is twice that of our top of the range drill driver, the BDF451.

This unit is both compact and lightweight (just 1.5kg) and is well balanced and comfortable to use thanks to the rubberised grip. The ¼” chuck is quick release and a handy LED light is situated below the chuck to illuminate the work piece, this is turned on automatically when the trigger is pressed but can be disabled.
