The 4-stroke engine has the advantage of up to 60% lower running costs, easier starting than 2-stroke models, no oil mixing, lower noise, less vibration and cleaner emissions. The engine can be aligned to any angle during operation thanks to the multi-position engine lubrication system which is essential while using the pole saw and hedge trimmer attachments.

The 24.5cc engine provides plenty of power and the 600ml fuel tank will give long run time between refuels. The lever lock system allows for rapid attachment swap over and the non-directional drive shaft allows for easy alignment and insertion. This is an excellent, fully professional unit suitable for contractors, landscapers and those with large estates to maintain, it is low maintenance, fuel-efficient, low emission and quiet running.

The MM4 engine complies with the following exhaust emission regulations; CARB Tier 3, EPA Phase 2, EU Stage 2, Safety regulations of the EC Directives.

Makita DUX60Z Twin 18v Brushless Split Shaft Power Unit

On the Makita DUX60Z cordless split-shaft tool the attachments can be changed and installed without tools, quickly and simply with a lever style lock system. It also features an ergonomically designed loop handle with a rubberised soft grip for ease of use.

It also benefits from our Twin 18v technology that delivers 36v power by utilising two 18v LXT batteries. The 18v LXT battery platform provides even greater versatility as the same batteries can also be used across a wide range of Makita products including, blowers, mowers and chainsaws as well as other tools that might be required such as drill-drivers, screwdrivers or saws. The LXT platform includes batteries with 3.0, 4.0, 5.0 and 6.0Ah capacities with charge times as little as 22 minutes for 3.0Ah and just 55 minutes for the 6.0Ah. A variety of charging options are available including fast charge, twin port and in-vehicle chargers to suit an array of different applications.

The power of the Twin 18v system is enhanced by the inclusion of a brushless motor. These motors offer greater efficiency as there is no friction and the tool does not waste energy through heat production. This ultimately increases productivity as it delivers longer run times – in some cases up to 30% more per battery charge. A brushless motor can also produce more torque and means that less power is required to achieve the same result.
